He will be greatly missed and was greatly loved by all the daily mass parishioners and youth ministry volunteers at Divine Infant Parish.
ReplyDeleteFather Francis will also be greatly missed by the parishioners of St. Michael Corkery, where he brought so much life and light to every Mass he celebrated for us -- especially on his New Year's Day birthday! He was always a breath of fresh air, and good and kind soul. I will never forget sharing stories with him about life over a summertime supper of trout in Almonte. I will miss my friend, Francis.
ReplyDeleteHe was still active and always ready to lend a hand at different parishes and events , gave me confession at the New Life Retreat at St Mary's parish last October. I would often see him at Pro Life events . He was good natured and liked to kid around. I really liked him.
ReplyDeleteI remember him hearing my confessions a few times and his bottom line always being 'never get discouraged, always know that you are loved.' Some of the most comforting words one can hear as they go through the trials and tribulations of life.
ReplyDeleteRest in peace, Fr. McEvoy.
We were so privileged having Father McEvoy as a dear friend. Over the past four years, we spent many evenings with him studying scriptures. He made such a difference in our lives. We will miss him.
ReplyDeleteHe will be missed by many parishioners at St. Elizabeth Parish. He was the pastor for the decade of the 80s. May he be experiencing God's peace and light.
ReplyDeleteThe Boyle family is deeply saddened by Father McEvoy's passing. It seems weird in some ways since I can't ever remember my life without him in it. He was an integral part of our family and never missed an opportunity to join us for any family event - big or small. His capacity to love was only surpassed by his capacity to teach - whether it was penny poker and telling jokes or prayers and how to help a person in need. He was always bringing different people out to the farm to meet us and enjoy one of my mom's home cooked meals. He baptised many of us, heard our confessions regularly, married us, blessed our homes and comforted and guided us through the death of our loved ones most particularly that of my father. He was a mentor and role model to us children, a dear friend to my parents. Our loss however means that heaven will shine a little brighter from now on. I know that my dad Charlie, my uncles Nellie (Chalut) and Paul (Nolan) were there to greet him... and maybe he will finally teach my dad how to tell a joke.. punch line and all. We will love you forever Father Mac.

Father McEvoy was truly loved by his flock. We knew him during his days as a retired priest that were spent serving others, whether they were his brother priests or by those of us who knew him as a beloved priest. One time I asked him what a typical day consisted of for him, this is what he said: I start my day around 4:30 am and pray "all" the mysteries of the rosaries, then I have breakfast, then I go meet my "friends" at the hospitals, I will hear confessions at St Pats, go for a walk along the Ottawa River in the afternoon, then go see some more "friends" at the hospital and then in the evening I will say mass if needed or meet with a family for supper. He never stopped helping others regardless of the cost to him. Father McEvoy was always smiling and full of joy. He loved to make people smile and it didn’t matter who you were. Thank you Lord for such a servant as Father McEvoy. I can't feel sad as I know that he is with our Lord and our Lady in Heaven. Father McEvoy pray for us! Love Mike, Josiane, Christine and Ryan
