Bishop for Churchill-Hudson Bay - Saturday after Ash Wednesday - Diocesan Centre Press Conference

Today it was announced in Rome that His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI has accepted the resignation of the Most Reverend Reynald Rouleau, O.M.I., as Bishop of Churchill-Hudson Bay, according to canon 401 §1 (on reaching the retirement age of 75) and has appointed Father Anthony Wieslaw Krótki, O.M.I., currently Pastor of St. Stephen’s Parish, Igloolik (Nunavut), as Bishop of Churchill-Hudson Bay.

Aujourd'hui on a annoncé a Rome que Sa Sainteté le Pape Benoît XVI a accepté la démission de Son Excellence Mgr Reynald Rouleau, O.M.I., comme évêque de Churchill-Hudson Bay, conformément au canon 401 §1; et a nommé le Père Anthony Wieslaw Krótki, O.M.I., présentement curé de la paroisse St. Stephen’s, Igloolike (Nunavut), comme évêque de Churchill-Hudson Bay.

The news of Pope Benedict's intended resignation came as a big surprise to all the world on Monday. 

Communications Officer Sarah DuBroy quickly arranged a press conference at the Diocesan Centre to assist the media in Ottawa in understanding and reporting this extraordinary event.
