Today in Rome, His Holiness Pope Francis appointed Most
Reverend John S. Pazak, C.Ss.R., as Eparchial Bishop of the Holy Mary of Protection
Byzantine Eparchy of Phoenix, Arizona, United States of America.
Currently, Bishop Pazak is Eparchial Bishop for Catholic Slovaks of the Byzantine
Rite in Canada.
Bishop Pazak was also appointed Apostolic Administrator sede
vacante of the Eparchy for the Slovaks of the Byzantine Rite in Canada
until a successor is appointed.

Phoenix en
Arizona. L'éparchie dessert principalement les catholiques ruthéniens de
l'ouest des États-Unis.
Au moment
de sa nomination, Mgr Pazak était l'évêque éparchial de l'éparchie pour les
slovaques catholiques de rite byzantin au Canada, laquelle a son siège
épiscopal dans la région de Toronto.
Le Saint-Père a également nommé Mgr Pazak
administrateur apostolique "sede vacante" de l'éparchie pour
les slovaques catholiques de rite byzantin au Canada et ce, pendant que le
siège apostolique à Toronto est vacant.

Besides being the tallest bishop in Canada, Bishop Pazak is a strong supporter of the annual Canadian March for Life. This coming Thursday, May 12 at a 10 AM Mass at St Theresa Parish to be presided by Ottawa Auxiliary Bishop Christian Riesbeck, CC, Bishop Pazak will be the homilist.
