Papal Prayer Intentions for April 2013

Pope Francis has adopted as his own the Monthly Prayer Intentions approved earlier by Pope Benedict XVI:

General Intention: Liturgy, Source of Life ["that the public, prayerful celebration of faith may give life to the faithful"]
Missionary Intention: Mission Churches ["that mission churches may be signs and instruments of hope and resurrection"]

THE EASTER SEASON: "THE GREAT SUNDAY"

The seven weeks from Easter to Pentecost are celebrated as one great feast day.  St. Athanasius called them "the great Sunday".  Christians sing the "Alleluia" during these days in their rejoicing. 

Les cinquante jours à partir du dimanche de la Résurrection jusqu’à celui de la Pentecôte sont célébrés dans la joie et l’exultation, comme si c’était un jour de fête unique, ou mieux « un grand dimanche » (Saint Athanase).
