Visit to CWL Ontario Provincial Convention in Kingston, July 8-11

Beautiful and spacious St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Kingston was the venue for the Sunday evening Opening Mass of this year's 65th Ontario Provincial Assemby of the Catholic Women's League of Canada. Several spiritual advisors were on hand (others will come later in the week) as concelebrants, as was Ontario Spiritual Advisor Bishop Fred Colli of Thunder Bay.

Archbishop Brendan O'Brien, who graciously hosted me overnight in his residence, presided at the liturgy.  Afterwards, several dignitaries from Kingston and the Islands (including the MP, MPP and Deputy-Mayor) and church bodies brought greetings, including long-time acqauintance Velma Harasen from Regina who is concluding her term as National CWL President with attendance at this provincial gathering.

There was a reception in Ecole Cathedrale next door, where I met most of the Ottawa delegates who accepted to pose together and in smaller groupings for this blog post.

The ladies of the CWL make a marvellous contribution to the life of our parishes, dioceses and nationally.  Their national convention next month will take place in Edmonton next month.
